FLM Ceramics makes pottery and tile by hand, with intention.
"My pots are complex in their creation though they still illustrate the intrinsic beauty found in the everyday ceramic object. I use a variety of complex historic patterns as a common language to take the user beyond the utility and hint at the deeper beauty of unfamiliar places."
FLM Ceramics is in lovely Petaluma, CA, in Sonoma County. We'd love to show you around the shop, our hours are dictated by our production and firing schedule, so make sure to drop us a line to guarantee we will be at the studio if you'd like to visit.
Apprentices are emerging studio artists and work 15 hours per week working and learning in both the tile and pottery studios in exchange for a private studio space, 24 hour studio access, access to firings, experience, knowledge, and critique. Outside of work hours apprentices are expected to be actively making their own work in the studio. Minimum time commitment is typically 12 months. Studio apprentices are not provided room or board, and may take on a part time job to offset the high cost of living in Northern California. Applicants must be self-sufficient, exhibit an ability to work well with others, have a good studio work ethic, as well as a working knowledge of ceramic studio practices, and an interest in developing their career. To apply send a current resume, two letters of recommendation, 5-10 images of your work, and a statement of intent describing what you hope to gain from this opportunity to Forrest at firstname.lastname@example.org
