Vase with Iznik and Japanese Pattern

150.00

This patterned vase is made by screen-printing patterns of iron onto paper and then transferring them onto the piece halfway through the wheel-throwing stage, a process the artist has dubbed "Volumetric Image Transfer". The pots are fired to 2300ºF and cooled without oxygen until 1375º, a process known as "Reduction Cooling" designed to retain the clay's black Iron color from the reduction of oxygen in the iron molecule.
Approx. 11.25" x 5.75"
