Handbuilt Pottery : Six Week Pottery Class


Thursdays from 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Dates: Six Weeks beginning June 21, ending August 2 with no class the week of July 4.
Instructor: Shannon Edwards

This class will focus on creating functional ceramics using hand-building techniques.  Students will learn to make vessels, lids, handles and spouts using pinch pot, coil, and slab methods. Each class will begin with a demonstration and a secondary demonstration that will often take place mid-way through the class. Once students have finished work, we will begin exploring a variety of approaches for surface treatment including sgraffito, mishima, carving and painting with engobes. 

Class fee includes 10 pounds of clay. Additional clay will be available for purchase as needed (All clay prices include firing and glaze materials).
A basic tool kit will be available for purchase on the first day of class for $17. You are also welcome to bring your own tools.
