Handmade Tile, Built to Spec

We make durable handmade tiles with a variety of beautiful original and historic patterns applied to vitrified stoneware and porcelain clay. After they are made, the tiles are kiln fired to 2300 degrees, allowing for exceptionally rich and lasting surfaces. Our tiles are designed to hold up to use in kitchens, baths, entries, and commercial spaces such as bathrooms and kitchens, all while carrying the character that only a handmade product can produce.

Why Designers Choose Us

Vitrified stoneware and porcelain, mostly raw unglazed surfaces with select glazed offerings. Our tile is dense and durable, with distinctive surfaces and colors and thoughtful patterns that bring an immediate time-worn history and unique quality to any project. It’s made for real projects — tested for the demands of both residential and commercial remodels as well as new ground-up construction.

With a proven track record and decades in the field of ceramics, Forrest Lesch-Middelton is a leader in the world of bespoke handmade tile and pottery. His tiles are unlike anything else available, and they have drawn considerable acclaim. He is the author of the book "Handmade Tile, Design, Create, Install." Beyond trade and custom work, Forrest collaborates on tile lines with noted artists and takes on custom commissions for select clients — bringing a level of craft and design thinking rarely available at this scale. It is this attention to detail and excitement for the craft that has brought Forrest the award of “Ceramic Artist of the Year” from Ceramics Monthly, and that FLM Ceramics brings to each job.

Finally, our not-so-secret advantage is our customer service and the scale of our business — not too big and not too small, a goldilocks zone within the tile world that allows for real flexibility in how we work. Each job goes directly through the owner-operators, Forrest and Beth, and until you've worked with them it's hard to imagine the care they take in understanding your specific project and what it means to work one-on-one with a client.

Working With Us

We take pride in on-time delivery, and we ship nationally via LTL and worldwide with international freight.

Lead Time: Standard 5–8 weeks for trade and wholesale orders. We recommend specifying early in your project timeline to keep installation on schedule.

Trade Pricing: We offer discounts for all trade professionals including architects, interior designers, and contractors structured as follows:

  • Tier one: First 50 square feet — 10% off

  • Tier two: 51–400 square feet — 15% off

  • Tier three: 401 square feet or more — 20% off

Design Club Membership: We love working with the trades. Designers, builders, and tile professionals who send us photos of previous installs, tag us on social media, and return to our tiles for future projects receive the same discount tier on current projects that they reached on previous projects. For example, if you reached the Tier Two 15% discount on a previous job, you'll receive that discount on all future jobs.

Samples: Request physical samples of any pattern before you spec — we typically ship samples within 3 business days. A $6 fee covers shipping. Tier two and three design club members receive free samples for all future jobs (limited to four free samples per unique project).

Beyond Tile

Alongside our tile, we design and make handmade lamps, planters, vases, and more in the same material language that FLM Ceramics is know for — unglazed vitrified stoneware and porcelain, with the same thoughtfulness, process and patterns as our tiles. For projects looking for a cohesive, fully custom feel, these pieces work as natural companions to our tile, bringing the same character into lighting and plantlife throughout any space.
